Meet Jan, a Helsinki-based photographer, who’s already gained an impressive over twenty-years of experience being one of the toughest professionals in the field with an obsession for detail and a fixation on impeccable quality. Jan’s path has always been entwined with art; he grew up with a calling to creativity. The push towards photography, however, came by accident. On his way to a career in advertising, he got side-tracked into a fashion shoot. It only took a few frames and he was sold – and never made it to the ad-agency. Because when you find the thing you love, you really have no choice but to go for it. Being quite the charmer with social skills to die for, Jan has acquired a talent of getting his clients to purr like kittens – yes, the men also. But don’t expect him to put himself in the limelight. It’s not that the experienced performer would shy the spotlight, he just believes in the team. You won’t see him boss around, though he’s always the boss of the shoot – but only to bring out the very best in his people with a positive, yet ambitious attitude. Everyone who works with Jan says the same thing; it’s the easiest experience there is. The guy just never learned to fear challenging situations. Maybe it’s the daredevil background and cheating death a couple of times that kind of puts things in perspective. He does have a life-long addiction to the adrenaline rush. Jan’s fearlessness perhaps best manifests in his professional versatility. Having experience in a wide range of varying projects, he knows how to tailor his skills to tackle any need. No project is too big – or too small. He’s not afraid to haul in the big guns and an iron team for that colossal shoot, but also finds it extremely enjoyable to concentrate on the tiniest of ventures. It’s all about the thrill of a challenge. It’s about actually seeing the client, identifying the need, and finding the absolute best solution for it – and preferably out-of-the-box. Jan will take any situation and turn it into poetry in a frame.
